Haudenschild, Emilie - Violin

Emilie Haudenschild was born in Basel on 8 February 1955 and studied first at the Music Academy of Basel in professor Sándor Zöldy’s class, attaining her teaching degree with honours in 1975 and a soloist's diploma in 1977 . Further studies led her to The Juillard School in New York, where she enhanced her knowledge as a student of Ivan Galamian and Oscar Shumsky. Upon her return to Switzerland, she gained two major awards at the 1979 Tibor Varga International Festival in Sion, and won the 1980 Soloist's Competition of the Swiss Musicians' Association. In 1983 together with Imre Kostyák founded Erato Quartett, which made successful international concert appearances. Between 1986 and 2006, she worked as the concertmaster of “The orchestra - Sinfonieorchester Basel”. As well as a soloist and as a chamber musician she made concert appearances throughout many European countries, in the United States, Canada, Taiwan and Japan. As a professor at the Music Academy of Basel she mentors many young, talented musicians.
